 Spring Essay Bonus

** Spring Bonus is worth up to 50 points extra credit added onto the final.  

Jesus said seven differnt things from the cross.  As these were the last things Jesus spoke, each of them is significant.  All essays must discuss the importance of the two following sayings:

        **"Eli, Eli (Eloi, Eloi), lama sabachthani?"

        **"Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."

7th and 8th Grades:  In addition to the above two sayings, choose one more saying (see below) and discuss the importance of each saying.  Minimum of 6 paragraphs with at least 4 sentences in each paragraph.

9th through 11th Grades:  In addition to the above two sayings, choose three other sayings (see below) and discuss the importance of each saying.  Minimum of 8 paragraphs with at least 4 sentences in each paragraph.

Include citation page.  On the citation page after the sources, you must include the following paragraph:
"The words of this essay are my own and not generated from AI.  Any words not my own have been placed in quotes with the source of the quote cited and documented above."  This page must be signed. 

Other sayings from the cross;

    ** Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.
    ** (To Mary) Woman, behold your son; (To John) Behold your mother.
    ** I thirst.
    ** It is finished.
    ** Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.

It is preferred, but not required, that the essay be type-written with two spaces between each line.

February 4, 2026 Snow Day

All Classes:   The homecoming theme for 2/4/2026 is 1 Peter 2:9 - "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." Read through the verse putting your name into the verse.   For example, "For I, Mr. Bice, am part of a chosen generation, I, Mr. Bice, am part of a royal priesthood, I, Mr. Bice, am part of a holy nation, I, Mr. Bice, am part of a peculiar people; that I, Mr. Bice, should show forth the praises of Him who has called me, Mr. Bice, out of darkness into His marvelous light."
